Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Niu Therapy, PLLC ("I," "me," or "my") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit https://therapywithtsuki.com or contact me through the website, email, or phone. Information in your clinical record is protected by my Notice of Privacy Practices, which controls that information. If you have questions, contact me at tsuki@niutherapy.com.

1. My Commitment to Privacy and Dignity

Privacy is more than a legal obligation. It is a matter of dignity, agency, and trust. I protect your information with care, transparency, and trauma-informed practices. Your information will only be shared with your informed consent or as required by law.

2. What Information I Collect

  • Information you send me through the contact form, email, or phone: name, email address, phone number, state, scheduling preferences, how you heard about me, and any message you choose to share.

  • Technical information about website visits, collected by the website platform (see Section 8).

Once you become a client, your intake, scheduling, billing, and clinical information is kept in my HIPAA-compliant electronic health record (SimplePractice) and protected by my Notice of Privacy Practices. I work only with adults and do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

3. How I Use Your Information

  • To respond to your inquiry and schedule a consultation

  • To provide therapy and manage administrative services, once you are a client

  • To keep secure records and comply with legal and clinical requirements

  • To improve website accessibility and user experience

4. Who I Share Your Information With

I never sell your personal information or share it for marketing. I share information only as necessary with:

  • Service providers that help me operate: Squarespace (website and form hosting), Google Workspace (email), iPlum (phone), and SimplePractice (electronic health record, scheduling, billing, and appointment reminders), under agreements that require them to protect your information

  • Others only as described in my Notice of Privacy Practices and Informed Consent, such as when the law requires it or to address serious safety concerns

5. Legal Disclosures and Your Rights

In situations required by law, such as suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or dependent adult, risk of serious harm to self or others, or a valid court order, information may be disclosed. A subpoena alone is not enough for me to release your records. I will assert privilege and contact you unless the law prohibits it.

You have the right to request access to your records, request corrections, change or withdraw your consent for communication at any time, and file a complaint with me or with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services if you believe your rights have been violated. See my Notice of Privacy Practices for details and timeframes.

6. Record Retention

I keep clinical and billing records for at least 7 years from the date of your last service, or longer where state law requires. If you return to therapy, the period starts again from your new last date of service. After this period, records are securely destroyed.

7. Security Measures

  • HIPAA-compliant electronic health records (SimplePractice)

  • Encrypted storage and password-protected systems

  • Limited access to personal information

No system is 100% secure, and by using my services you acknowledge this inherent risk.

8. Cookies and Website Analytics

This website is hosted on Squarespace, which uses built-in analytics to understand website traffic, such as visitor counts, pages viewed, and traffic sources. I do not use Google Analytics, advertising trackers, or cross-site profiling.

9. Communication and Technology Use

Appointment reminders are sent through SimplePractice. Separately, I use my practice phone (iPlum) to call you for your initial consultation, and I may use email or text to schedule or reschedule sessions if you contact me that way. I use these methods for scheduling and administrative purposes only, not for clinical content, because they are not fully secure. You may opt out or change your preferences at any time.

10. Your Privacy Rights Under State Law

Depending on the state where you live, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information. If they apply, I will honor them. To make a request, contact tsuki@niutherapy.com. I may ask you to verify your identity to protect your information. For website information collected from Washington residents, see my Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.

11. Mobile Messaging Policy

I do not send marketing text messages and do not sell your number. If you text me to schedule a session, I will reply by text for scheduling purposes only. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop receiving texts from me, or HELP (or email tsuki@niutherapy.com) for help. Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

12. No Participation in Legal Proceedings

I do not provide court testimony, evaluations, or documentation for legal matters (for example, custody, disability, or immigration). If I am subpoenaed, the fees described in my Informed Consent apply.

13. Animal Support Letter Policy

I do not provide emotional support or service animal letters, as these require a specialized disability evaluation outside the scope of therapy.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

I may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be noted by the "Last Updated" date.
